China renews ties with Dubai

HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum with Yang Xiong, Mayor of the Chinese city of Shanghai

Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum received here this evening Yang Xiong, Mayor of the Chinese city of Shanghai, who is currently leading a high level business mission to the UAE.

Sheikh Mohammed welcomed the Mayor of Shanghai and praised the deep-rooted and exemplary ties between the UAE and China, which are based on mutual trust, respect and benefit.

Mayor Xiong said his visit to the UAE came as part of People’s Republic of China’s keenness to strengthen relations with the leadership, government and people of the UAE. He expressed the hope that the visit would contribute in opening new avenues for cooperation and partnerships in investment, commercial, cultural and tourism fields.

He further said that Shanghai and Dubai share many features in common, including tourism, high-end shopping facilities, advanced infrastructure and the soaring skyline.

The meeting was attended by Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Gargawi, Minister for Cabinet Affairs, Mohammed Ibrahim Al Shaibani, Director General of the Dubai Ruler’s Court, Lt. General Musabah bin Rashid Al Fattan, Director of Dubai Ruler’s Office, Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, chairman of Dubai Ports and Customs Corporation, Khalifa Saeed Sulaiman, Director General of Dubai Protocol and Hospitality Department and Tang Wei, Consul-General of the Peoples’ Republic of China.
