Actress Saiyami Kher, who is gearing up for her upcoming film ‘Agni’, has shared that she likes to do roles that challenge her and push her out of her comfort zone.
In ‘Agni’, she portrays the character of a firefighter.
The actress, who is known for ‘Mirzya’, ‘Ghoomer’, ‘Special OPS’, and ‘Breathe’, expressed her contentment with being recognised as an actor capable of handling rugged and challenging roles in Bollywood.
Elaborating on the subject, she said: “I am incredibly grateful for the opportunities I’ve had to portray strong characters in the work I have done so far. It’s immensely fulfilling to be recognised for my ability to take on roles that push me out of my comfort zone and demand physical and emotional dedication. I’ve always been drawn to roles that demand everything from me because, in return, they give me so much. My attempt has always been to lose myself in the character.”
“So when someone says, ‘Oh, the ‘Ghoomer girl’ is the same girl from ‘Choked?’ I take it as a compliment because, as an actor, it feels great not to find the same person in every character. My journey as an actor has been one of constant learning, growth, and I am grateful for every opportunity to challenge myself and inspire and touch people’s lives. Acting is a very powerful medium. So when people come back and say your film inspired me, taught me, or moved me, I feel it’s a big success for me,” she added.
Juggles Acting and Ironman Prep
Actress Saiyami Kher, who is preparing for the Ironman race in Berlin, shared that, amid the chaos of the shooting, taking out a few hours for training is a commitment to self-improvement.
The race will be held in the quaint town of Erkner, 30 minutes away from Berlin, on September 15. To prepare for Ironman, her workout regimen includes swimming, cycling, and running.
Saiyami said: “Sport has been my sanctuary, fostering not just physical prowess but also mental fortitude. Undertaking the Ironman has emerged as one of my most daunting endeavours, an introspective odyssey of self-confrontation.”
The actress added that it is a “relentless pursuit of personal growth, marked by incremental triumphs, the relentless pursuit of excellence, and the unearthing of one’s inner resilience.”
“Amid the chaos of a bustling shooting schedule, carving out two hours daily for training serves as a testament to my unwavering dedication and unyielding commitment to self-improvement,” concluded the actress.
On the film front, Saiyami will be seen next in ‘Agni’, which celebrates and explores the lives of firefighters, alongside Pratik Gandhi and Divyenndu Sharma.
The film is directed by Rahul Dholakia and produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani under the banner Excel Entertainment.
Saiyami, the niece of actress Tanvi Azmi, made her acting debut with the Telugu film ‘Rey’ in 2015. She debuted in Hindi cinema in 2016 with ‘Mirzya’ alongside Harsh Varrdhan Kapoor, directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra.
In 2018, she stepped into Marathi cinema with ‘Mauli’ starring Riteish Deshmukh. The actress was then seen in films such as ‘Choked’ and ‘Wild Dog’.
Saiyami has also worked in the web space with ‘Special OPS’ in 2020. She was later seen in the Abhishek Bachchan-starrer ‘Breathe: Into the Shadows’ and ‘Faadu’.
From ‘Wild Dog’ to ‘Special Ops’
Saiyami Kher, who will be soon seen in the upcoming film ‘Agni’ and Neeraj Pandey’s upcoming season of ‘Special Ops’, has shared that her preparation for action in the Telugu film ‘Wild Dog’ came in handy for her role in ‘Special Ops’.
In ‘Special Ops’, the actress essays the role of an undercover agent, Juhi Kashyap. The actress starred along with Telugu superstar Nagarjuna in ‘Wild Dog’, and got to do action in the film which came in handy for her role in ‘Special Ops’ as well.
Talking about her preparations, the actress told IANS: “I read a number of books and journals to understand the nuances of these people who seem like ordinary people but are actually agents. Their stories and lives are fascinating. Action is something I did learn for a film I had done with Nagarjuna sir and learnt MMA then, that too came in handy for this. It’s amazing how as actors we get to play such differently diverse roles and for some, we get to dive deep into things we have no idea how and seeking that knowledge is really thrilling.”
In ‘Agni’, Saiyami steps into the shoes of a firefighter, embodying resilience and bravery in the face of adversity.
Reflecting on her journey, Saiyami expressed her gratitude for being recognised for her portrayal of strong female characters.
She said: “I feel so blessed that all the roles I have done so far have been so different and so strong. Will always be grateful to the makers you have believed in me.
