India, UAE focus on boosting ties on medical tourism, pharma

Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya on Tuesday met with his UAE counterpart Abdul Rahman Mohammed Al Owais and discussed strengthening bilateral relations in the health sector between the two countries…reports Asian Lite News

Taking to Twitter, Mandaviya said that they also talked at length about further increasing cooperation in medical tourism, the pharma sector and other areas.

“Met Abdul Rahman Mohammed Al Owais, Minister of Health of UAE and had a detailed discussion on strengthening bilateral relations in health sector between two countries. We also talked at length about further increasing cooperation in medical tourism, pharma sector & other areas,” Mandaviya tweeted.

Union Health Minister also met with UAE Minister of State Sheikh Shakhboot Nahyan Al Nahyan in Abu Dhabi. He said that they both had a productive discussion on further strengthening ties between India and UAE.

“Met UAE Minister of State @MoFAICUAE H.E. Sheikh Shakhboot Nahyan Al Nahyan in Abu Dhabi. We had a very productive discussion on further strengthening of ties between India & UAE. The cooperation between the two countries has grown even stronger during the #COVID19 challenge,” Mandaviya wrote in another tweet.

Earlier, while addressing the inaugural India Global Forum (IGF) in Dubai, Dr Mandaviya said the government is set to usher in research and development reforms in the health sector to unleash the country’s potential.

Responding to a question by Dubai-based industrialist and philanthropist Faizal Kottikollon, Chairman & Founder, KEF Holdings, regarding hurdles in the sector, Mandaviya promised to bring reforms in the health sector to attract global investments.

The two-day conference aims to provide a platform to unicorns from both India and the UAE. The conference, co-hosted by the Embassy of the UAE – New Delhi and Consulate General of India, Dubai, IGF UAE 2021, highlighting the historic tie up between India and the UAE. The event promotes India as a global investment destination.

The conference, focussed on several thrust areas of bilateral and global significance, including healthcare, technology and trade, includes keynote addresses and panel discussions from an array of high-profile ministers, government officials and business leaders from both countries.
