The decision to remove Nivedita and Verma was taken by the Chief Minister’s Office.

On January 19, Nivedita had slapped the BJP activists in Biaora during a pro-Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) rally taken out despite section 144 in the area, while Verma tried to physically restrain them.

The Chief Minister also ordered removal of Rewa Municipal Corporation Commissioner Sabhajit Yadav.

Yadav had on number of occasions been critical of Chouhan. Yadav had accused Chouhan of being involved in the dumper scam during his tenure. Chouhan also cancelled all political nominations of the corporation commission.

Chouhan took oath as the Chief Minister for the fourth time on Monday evening. Earlier in the day, he also proved majority in the Assembly.
