Rasika Dugal reflects on NYIFF weekend

Summing up her NYIFF visit, Rasika shared, “It was a weekend full of connecting with friends, watching their work and celebrating cinema

Actress Rasika Dugal, known for her roles in Mirzapur, Delhi Crime, and Shehar Lakhot, recently attended the New York Indian Film Festival (NYIFF) and described the experience as a weekend of heartfelt reunions, cinematic discovery, and creative celebration.

“This festival was special because I got to spend time with and watch the work of so many friends,” said Rasika. She praised Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s I Am Not an Actor and Sonali Bose’s A Fly on the Wall — two films that were part of NYIFF’s diverse and emotionally rich programming this year. “It was lovely to see voices from across the Indian cinematic landscape come alive on screen,” she added.
In addition to the festival screenings, Rasika took time to revisit Monsoon Wedding at the iconic Paris Theatre. The screening was followed by a spirited Q&A session with filmmaker Mira Nair. “Some films really do stand the test of time and just get better with every viewing,” she reflected, calling the experience both nostalgic and inspiring.

Summing up her NYIFF visit, Rasika shared, “It was a weekend full of connecting with friends, watching their work and celebrating cinema.” The actress, who recently opened up about navigating a month of unexpected schedule changes, noted how this period allowed her moments of solitude and introspection. In an Instagram post, she called this phase “introverting” — a tongue-in-cheek nod to embracing stillness amid chaos.

Whether soaking in timeless classics or championing contemporary Indian voices on international platforms, Rasika Dugal’s NYIFF experience was a thoughtful blend of community, creativity, and personal reflection.
