Addressing the nation, PM says that while it was true that the present times were not an age of war, this was also not the age of terrorism
Addressing the nation after the ceasefire between India and Pakistan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that India had drawn new red lines on terror emanating from Pakistan and underlined that India had just suspended Operation Sindoor because Pakistan rushed to the world after suffering damage and that it would closely watch the activities of Pakistan.
“We have set a new normal,” Modi said, asserting: “Operation Sindoor is our policy against terror. If there is a terror attack on India, we will hit back. We will take stern action at every place from where the roots of terror spring forth. India will not accept any nuclear blackmail… We won’t see the government that sponsors terror and terror outfits as different.”
Modi said that Pakistan was feeling “helpless and hopeless” after this attack. “In this context, it did one more misadventure – instead of siding with India on this, it started attacking our schools, temples, gurudwaras, residential areas and military installations. But it was exposed. The world saw how their drones and missiles were blown away in front of our strong air defence system. Pakistan prepared for a border attack, but we attacked them on the chest. Our missiles and drones damaged the Pakistan air bases it was so proud of. In three days, India destroyed Pakistan to an extent it never expected,” Modi said. “So, Pakistan began to beg in front of the world to reduce tensions…. By that time, we damaged their terror infrastructure. When Pakistan requested, and said that it would not continue attacks, India thought about it. We have just suspended our activities against them.”
Noting that Monday was Buddha Poornima, Modi said that the Buddha had shown the path of peace to the world. “I tell the world – if we talk to Pakistan, we will talk only about terror and PoK. Today is Buddha Purnima. Bhagwan Buddha showed us the path of peace. The path of peace also follows from the path of strength.”
“Our army, air force, navy, our BSF and our paramilitary forces are on constant alert. We have seen the visual when Pakistan army officers paid tribute to slain terrorists. We have been acting to protect our citizens. We have defeated Pakistan on the battlefield each time, and have added a new dimension through Operation Sindoor,” Modi asserted.
The PM said that while it was true that the present times were not an age of war, this was also not the age of terrorism. Reiterating the need for zero tolerance on terrorism, he said, “One day the terror it is sponsoring will finish off Pakistan. They will have to dismantle their terror infrastructure. Terror and talks, terror and trade, cannot co-exist. Water and blood cannot flow together.”
Modi saluted the armed forces for their valour, dedicating their actions to the mothers and daughters of the country. “I want to congratulate the valiant army and scientists of our country. I salute them. Our soldiers showed great valour in Operation Sindoor. I dedicate to every mother, sister and daughter of our country the valour of our soldiers. The world was shaken by the attack on Pahalgam… People were asked their religion in front of their families and their children, and then killed. This was an attempt to break the unity of the country,” he said, adding that it was after this that the government gave a free hand to the armed forces to destroy terror. “Today, every terrorist organisation knows the outcome of any attempt to remove the sindoor from the heads of our sisters and daughters. Operation Sindoor is the unbroken pledge for justice.”
“These hubs in Muridke and Bahawalpur were universities of global terrorism,” Modi said, adding that these were behind many global terror attacks. He added that in one stroke, India killed more than 100 dangerous terrorists.
In his nearly-30-minute speech, PM Modi sent several warnings to Pakistan, reiterating the fact that Operation Sindoor marks a shift in India’s doctrine to combat terrorism emanating from Pakistan. Strikes on terror camps located throughout Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir is now “the new normal” he said.
PM Modi, who addressed the nation about Operation Sindoor last night, has said Pakistan now has only two option – terrorism or annihilation. Either dismantle terror infrastructure and take action against terrorists or perish as a nation.
