Omar Abdullah, Mehbooba Mufti concede defeat

Srinagar, June 4 (IANS) After former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah conceded defeat in the Lok Sabha elections on Tuesday, another ex-CM, Mehbooba Mufti also accepted defeat in J&K.

While Omar Abdullah conceded defeat to Engineer Rashid of Awami Itihad Party (AIP), Mehbooba Mufti was trailing National Conference (NC) candidate, Mian Altaf Ahmad by a margin of over two lakh votes.

Mehbooba Mufti said on her X-post, “Respecting the verdict of the people I thank my PDP workers & leaders for their hard work & support despite all the odds. My deepest gratitude to the people who voted for me. Winning & losing is part of the game & wont deter us from our path.”

In the Srinagar Lok Sabha seat, Syed Ruhullah Mehdi of the NC was comfortably placed against his PDP rival, Waheed Parra. Mehdi was leading by 1,58610 votes.

Jugal Kishore Sharma of the BJP was leading against Raman Bhalla of the Congress in the Jammu Lok Sabha seat.

Dr Jitendra Singh of the BJP established an unassailable lead over his rival, Choudhary Lal Singh of the Congress in Udhampur Lok Sabha seat.
