India has accused Pakistan of escalating tensions along the western border through missile attacks and drone strikes, vowing a calibrated but firm military response while condemning the targeting of civilian infrastructure.
India on Saturday accused Pakistan of deliberate military escalation along the western border, including high-speed missile launches and drone intrusions targeting civilian and military infrastructure. In response, the Indian armed forces launched precision strikes on Pakistani military assets under Operation Sindoor, while reaffirming a commitment to non-escalation—provided it is reciprocated.
In a high-level press briefing, Wing Commander Vyomika Singh, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, and Army Colonel Sofiya Qureshi detailed Pakistan’s actions, which included repeated drone incursions, heavy cross-border shelling, and a targeted missile attack in Punjab.

“Pakistan has been observed moving troops into forward areas, indicating offensive intent to further escalate the situation,” said Wing Commander Singh. “Indian armed forces remain in a high state of operational readiness and have responded proportionately to all hostile actions.”
The briefing revealed that Pakistan attempted harassment attacks and intrusions at over 26 locations, ranging from Srinagar to Gujarat’s Nalia sector. Notably, a high-speed missile was fired at 1:40 a.m. on Saturday towards an air base in Punjab, breaching international norms. Indian air defences intercepted most of the incoming threats, although limited damage to infrastructure and personnel was reported at bases including Udhampur, Pathankot, Adampur and Bhuj.
Pakistan was also accused of targeting civilian structures, including Medicare centres and school premises near the Srinagar, Avantipur and Udhampur air bases.
“This is a deplorable and cowardly act, highlighting Pakistan’s disregard for human life and global norms,” Singh said. “India’s response has been swift, calibrated and focused solely on military targets.”

According to the Indian side, precision strikes were carried out on radar sites, weapon storage areas, and command centres deep inside Pakistani territory, with no civilian targets hit.
Army Colonel Sofiya Qureshi confirmed that India’s air defence systems successfully intercepted armed drones attempting to target sensitive zones like Khasa Cantonment in Amritsar. “These UAVs were neutralised instantly by our units, reaffirming the high level of preparedness,” she said.
In a parallel operation, the Border Security Force (BSF) destroyed a terrorist launch pad and a Pakistani border post in Looni, Sialkot district, believed to be the origin point of the drone attacks. “This was a clear message. Our resolve to defend India’s sovereignty is unshaken,” the BSF stated.
Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri also slammed Pakistan’s state-backed misinformation campaign, which falsely claimed destruction of Indian S-400 systems and airfields in Sirsa and Surat. “These are brazen lies,” Misri said. “India categorically rejects such fabricated claims being peddled by Pakistan’s propaganda machinery.”
While tensions remain high, Indian officials stressed that the military remains committed to restraint and proportionate response. “Our objective is stability and peace. But any further provocation will be met with decisive action,” Singh concluded.
As the situation continues to evolve, India’s leadership has reiterated its intent to safeguard territorial integrity while urging Pakistan to de-escalate and abandon its use of military aggression and misinformation.
