Akshay Kumar Fights for Justice in ‘Kesari Chapter 2’ Trailer

With a screenplay by Tyagi and Amritpal Singh Bindra, the film is set to deliver a potent courtroom drama, blending historical events with bravery, resilience, and emotional depth

The highly anticipated trailer for Kesari Chapter 2 has been released, and it promises a gripping narrative that will have viewers at the edge of their seats. The film stars Akshay Kumar in a powerful role as Sir C. Sankaran Nair, a prominent lawyer who takes on the British Empire following the infamous Jallianwala Bagh massacre of 1919. The trailer highlights his courageous battle for justice in a historical setting that continues to resonate today.

Unveiled by the makers on social media, the trailer’s caption reads, “This is a wound. This is a roar. This… is #KesariChapter2! Trailer out now. Link in bio. In cinemas 18th April, worldwide.” The trailer begins with a tense exchange between Akshay Kumar’s character and General Dyer, who is infamous for ordering the brutal massacre. Kumar, portraying Nair, confronts Dyer in a powerful dialogue: “How did you warn the crowd at Jallianwala Bagh to disperse? Did you fire tear gas? Did you shoot in the air? Or did you just open fire on them without any warning?”

Dyer’s cold response, “They weren’t just a crowd; they were terrorists,” is met with a passionate retort from Nair: “But they were still humans! Babies as young as eight or nine months were shot with bullets in their tiny chests. What weapons did they have?” This emotional exchange sets the tone for the film, showcasing Nair’s unwavering resolve in the face of colonial oppression and his relentless fight for justice.
Kesari Chapter 2 is based on true events and explores the aftermath of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre, where British forces opened fire on a peaceful gathering of Indians, killing hundreds. The film portrays the aftermath of this tragedy, focusing on Nair’s pursuit of justice against Colonel Reginald Dyer, the British officer responsible for the massacre. As a lawyer and former President of the Indian National Congress, Nair’s courage to take on the mighty British Empire made him an important figure in the struggle for independence.

In addition to Akshay Kumar’s portrayal of Nair, the trailer introduces Ananya Panday as Dilreet Gill, a determined barrister who joins forces with Nair in his quest for justice. R. Madhavan plays Neville McKinley, a brilliant mind and strategist referred to as ‘a genius’ in the film. Directed by Karan Singh Tyagi, Kesari Chapter 2 is produced by Hiroo Yash Johar, Karan Johar, Aruna Bhatia, and Adar Poonawalla.

With a screenplay by Tyagi and Amritpal Singh Bindra, the film is set to deliver a potent courtroom drama, blending historical events with bravery, resilience, and emotional depth. The film promises to take viewers through an intense journey of struggle against injustice, spotlighting the sacrifices made during the fight for India’s freedom.
Kesari Chapter 2 is scheduled to hit theatres on April 18, 2025, and is expected to stir emotions while shedding light on a pivotal moment in Indian history that shaped the course of the freedom struggle. Fans of historical drama and Akshay Kumar’s performances are eagerly awaiting the release of this powerful film.
