The UAE has launched the sixth cohort of its Artificial Intelligence Programme, welcoming 77 participants from both government and private sectors. The initiative, driven by the National Programme for Artificial Intelligence, aims to equip a new generation of national leaders with cutting-edge expertise in artificial intelligence and emerging technologies, reinforcing the country’s role as a global hub for innovation.
Organised in collaboration with the University of Birmingham, the programme reflects the UAE’s strategic commitment to digital transformation and future readiness. This cohort features participants from new organisations such as the National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority, Abu Dhabi Emergency, Crisis, and Disaster Management Centre, Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services, Dubai Electronic Security Centre, Sharjah Police, and the NMDC Group.
The launch event included a panel discussion with several Chief Artificial Intelligence Officers (CAIOs) from key government entities. Among the speakers were Engineer Amal Abdulrahim, Assistant Undersecretary for the Support Services Sector and CAIO at the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment; Ahmed Al Hawqani, CAIO at the General Civil Aviation Authority; and Ahmed Al Ali, CAIO at the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure. The session was moderated by Marwa Al Shaibani from the Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications Office.

They emphasized that the programme broadened their strategic thinking and enabled them to develop innovative AI-based solutions tailored to the needs of their sectors.
They also highlighted the programme’s importance as a platform for empowerment and networking. Participants gain valuable exposure to decision-makers and industry experts, which helps transform innovative ideas into actionable projects that drive real-world digital transformation.
Dr. Abdulrahman Al Mahmoud, Director at the Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications Office, stressed the significance of talent development in advancing the UAE’s technological future. He stated, “AI programmes are not just about learning technology; they’re about building strategic thinkers who can lead innovation and impact.”
He added that by bringing together talented individuals on a collaborative platform, the nation can transform aspirations into pioneering projects that support national development goals.
This cohort will explore foundational concepts of artificial intelligence and generative AI, as well as their rapid global evolution. It will address sector-specific challenges and opportunities, highlight trends such as large language models, and foster innovation in AI-driven security solutions.
Since its inception, the programme has graduated over 370 participants from more than 100 entities. Many alumni have gone on to assume leadership roles, including the position of Chief Artificial Intelligence Officer, and have spearheaded innovative projects across sectors using the UAE’s robust technological infrastructure.
The initiative continues to play a pivotal role in shaping a digitally empowered and future-ready UAE.
