Ukraine Agrees to 30-Day Ceasefire with US Proposal, Military Aid Restored

Following the high-level talks between Ukraine and the United States in Saudi Arabia, the US has resumed military aid and intelligence sharing with Ukraine

In a significant diplomatic breakthrough, Ukraine has agreed to a US proposal for an “immediate, interim 30-day ceasefire” following talks with a US delegation in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The ceasefire, which can be extended by mutual agreement, is seen as a critical step toward achieving lasting peace.

The announcement came after hours of negotiations between senior officials from both countries. The joint statement revealed that the United States would resume security assistance to Ukraine and lift the pause on intelligence sharing, which had been suspended earlier this year. The two sides also agreed to initiate talks aimed at developing a comprehensive peace agreement, with both countries reaffirming their commitment to counter Russia’s military actions.

The US delegation included Secretary of State Marco Rubio and National Security Advisor Mike Waltz, while Ukraine was represented by President Volodymyr Zelensky’s Chief of Staff Andriy Yermak, Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha, and Defense Minister Rustem Umerov. Saudi officials, including Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, were also present for the discussions.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio expressed hope that Russia would accept the ceasefire proposal, noting that the “ball is in their court.” Ukrainian President Zelensky described the meeting as “good and constructive” and stated that the ceasefire would take effect immediately if Russia agrees.

US Resumes Military Aid and Intelligence Sharing to Ukraine Following Saudi Talks

Following the high-level talks between Ukraine and the United States in Saudi Arabia, the US has resumed military aid and intelligence sharing with Ukraine. This comes after a rare suspension of military assistance, triggered by a heated dispute between US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in late February.

According to Ukrainian officials, the agreements reached during the Jeddah talks are already being implemented, with the US lifting the pause on intelligence sharing. The US has also committed to restoring security assistance to Ukraine, which had been temporarily halted earlier this month.

The diplomatic shift marks a pivotal moment after the tense White House confrontation, and both sides have expressed their commitment to finalizing a comprehensive agreement for Ukraine’s critical mineral resources to help expand its economy. As the ceasefire plan takes shape, the international community watches closely for any signs of a broader peace process.
