France Taps Into $700M Gulf Energy Shift

From 7 to 9 April in the UAE, a delegation of 19 French companies will showcase advanced solutions designed to modernise, secure, and enhance the sustainability of energy infrastructure

France is set to take centre stage at Middle East Energy 2025, one of the region’s most influential trade events dedicated to the global energy industry. From 7 to 9 April in the United Arab Emirates, a delegation of 19 French companies will showcase advanced solutions designed to modernise, secure, and enhance the sustainability of energy infrastructure.

Organised by Business France, this participation underscores France’s industrial expertise and long-term commitment to supporting the Gulf region’s energy transition, in line with the UAE’s sustainability and infrastructure development ambitions.

With energy demand in the Gulf rising rapidly, governments in the region are investing heavily in expanding electrical infrastructure. One of the most significant initiatives is the Gulf Cooperation Council’s (GCC) electrical interconnection project with Oman, a $700 million investment aimed at increasing transmission capacity and reducing operational costs.

Meanwhile, the smart grid market in the Gulf is projected to reach $1.68 billion by 2026, reflecting the growing emphasis on energy efficiency, renewable integration, and the construction of sustainable cities. These developments create significant opportunities for French companies, whose expertise in energy management, grid modernisation, and electrification is internationally recognised.

The participation of French firms at Middle East Energy 2025 comes at a time of strengthened bilateral ties between France and the UAE. This follows high-level diplomatic engagements earlier in the year, including the visit of UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to Paris in February and the visit of Laurent Saint-Martin, France’s Minister Delegate for Foreign Trade and French Nationals Abroad, to the UAE later that month.

These visits reinforced the Comprehensive Strategic Energy Partnership, which has been in place since 2022 and serves as a foundation for advancing cooperation in energy, trade, and innovation. A key highlight of this partnership is the agreement between UAE-based Masdar and French energy giant TotalEnergies to accelerate clean energy access in Southeast Asia and Africa, demonstrating the shared commitment of both nations to sustainable global development.

Bilateral trade between France and the UAE reached €8.5 billion in 2024, with energy playing a pivotal role in this relationship. As the UAE diversifies its energy mix and invests in renewables, smart grids, and green hydrogen, French companies are well-positioned to contribute cutting-edge technologies to these transformative efforts.
At the French Pavilion, visitors will encounter a range of solutions tailored to meet the MENA region’s evolving energy needs.
Companies will showcase innovations in surge and lightning protection (France Paratonnerres, Indelec, CITEL-2CP), power continuity and quality (Infosec UPS System, EnerSys, RS Isolsec), energy measurement and digital supervision (Chauvin Arnoux Energy, CODRA), industrial electrification and smart connectivity (Marechal Electric, Michaud Export, Niled), and marking and lighting for critical infrastructure (CITEL-2CP, OBSTA).

These technologies align with the Gulf’s priorities, including grid resilience, energy efficiency, renewable integration, and the development of smart cities. The French presence at Middle East Energy 2025 reflects a broader commitment to fostering sustainable and technologically advanced energy solutions in the region. With a track record of innovation and industrial leadership, French companies are poised to play a key role in shaping the future of energy infrastructure in the Gulf. Visitors are encouraged to explore the pioneering initiatives of these exhibitors by visiting the official event website, where French expertise meets the dynamic energy landscape of the MENA region.
