UAE steps up support to Khan Younis

With 70% of the main water networks in the city were damaged, the UAE inked an MoU with Khan Younis Municipality to repair water lines and conduct urgent maintenance across different city areas…reports Asian Lite News

As part of ‘’Operation Chivalrous Knight 3”, the UAE yesterday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Khan Younis Municipality to repair water lines and conduct emergency maintenance of water networks in various parts of the city.

This initiative aims to alleviate the suffering of residents and enable the municipality to provide essential infrastructure services within its available capabilities.

The MoU falls within the UAE’s efforts to find urgent humanitarian solutions for the Khan Younis Municipality and provide funding to re-operate water wells and reservoirs in the city after a significant number were damaged.

The damage to the main water networks reached approximately 70%, while 25 wells were completely destroyed and 12 were partially destroyed. This has exacerbated the water crisis in the city over the past months and has made it difficult for displaced people to access water.

The MoU also contributes to the repair of water submersibles in the city, the provision of materials for extending external water networks, the purchase of water barrels for placement in central filling points, the supply of operational materials (solar and gas), and the maintenance of water submersibles to deliver water to densely populated areas where displaced people are concentrated.

This aims to prevent health disasters, improve the environmental situation, and provide services to residents.

The UAE is working to alleviate the burden on the Khan Younis Municipality following the damage to the city’s water networks and the municipality’s incapability due to the destruction and ground invasion of the city, which has hindered its ability to deliver water to all areas, especially in light of the massive increase in the number of displaced people to nearly 900,000.

The UAE is providing humanitarian aid and water to displaced families in various parts of the Gaza Strip within the framework of Operation Chivalrous Knight 3”.

It provides water daily to thousands of displaced people to alleviate the suffering of residents in light of the catastrophic conditions in the Gaza Strip.

UAE responds to Palestinians’ pleas

The UAE, as part of Operation Chivalrous Knight 3, has responded to the pleas of several displaced Palestinian families in Khan Younis who have been affected by the war and repeated displacements, by offering assistance and meeting their basic needs.

Volunteers of Operation Chivalrous Knight 3 in Khan Younis have set up 10 shelter tents for the displaced families in response to their pleas for shelter through the media amid the dire conditions they are experiencing and the lack of living necessities, prompting the UAE’s intervention to meet their needs.

The displaced families expressed their gratitude to the UAE and its leadership for the prompt response and for providing aid that alleviates their suffering, in addition to the humanitarian initiatives it has been carrying out since the beginning of the war in the Gaza Strip.

The UAE is working to support afflicted and displaced families to alleviate the catastrophic situation in the Gaza Strip after thousands of families were displaced from their homes and did not receive adequate aid. Through its humanitarian arm in Palestine, Operation Chivalrous Knight 3, the UAE supports Palestinians, by providing urgent aid and implementing relief projects.

The UAE recently provided three tonnes of medical supplies and a variety of medicines to support the healthcare sector and hospitals still operating in Gaza Strip, following the recent events and developments in Khan Younis.

This response came after calls from the health sector regarding a shortage of medicines, including Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis, to ensure the continued provision of medical services to the injured, patients, and healthcare for all displaced people.

The medical aid includes a number of necessary medical supplies for hospitals facing shortages, medicines for various types of injuries, a quantity of insulin dosages for diabetic patients, and various solutions to support the healthcare sector in this critical situation.
