The free event at Stratford Youth Zone in East London concludes a month long series of events held by Newham to celebrate South Asian heritage…reports Asian Lite News
There will be a stunning celebration of South Asian talent at a free concert taking place in the London borough of Newham on August 18. Music legend Apache Indian, currently on his 30th anniversary tour, will fly in from Scotland to deliver an action packed performance of his greatest hits at Stratford Youth Zone.
He will be joined on the bill by rapidly rising music stars Chahat Mahmood Ali Qawwali Group. The exciting Sufi music act from Faisalabad in Pakistan have been delighting audiences around the UK and will deliver their first big London concert at the show, ahead of making their Scotland debut at Caird Hall in Dundee on August 20.
The group led by the father and son duo, of Chahat and Mahmood Ali, have previously played alongside major qawwali singers like Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and Faiz Ali Faiz. Lead singer Chahat Ali said: “It is a great honour to tour the UK because the diverse audiences here really value artists, and music tradition. They have been responsible for turning so many greats like, the late great Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan Saab, into huge international stars. We are thankful to the honourable Newham mayor Ms Rokhsana Fiaz for organising a free event like this for the whole community.”
The evening will also see DJ Lady G spinning the biggest hits, along with hosting the evening. The Solar radio host, born and brought up in Newham is looking forward to the show and said:
