Pearl spot fish fry

Ingredients

  1. Fish – 1 whole
  2. Turmeric Powder – ½ tsp
  3. Red Chilli Powder – 2 tbsp
  4. Pepper Powder – 1 tsp
  5. Ginger – ½ tsp [chopped]
  6. Garlic – ½ tsp [chopped]
  7. Small Onions – 2 tbsp
  8.  Fennel Seeds – ½ tsp
  9. Curry Leaves – 2 sticks
  10. Lime Juice – ½ tsp
  11. Salt – to taste
  12. Oil – to fry
  13. Water – as needed to prepare paste

Method

  1. Clean the fish and make slits on both the sides.
  2. In a grinder add turmeric, red chilli powder, ginger, garlic, small onion, curry leaves, fennel seeds lime juice, water and salt. Grind this into a smooth paste.
  3. Marinate the fish with the paste and let it sit for an hour.
  4. Heat oil in a pan. Fry the fish on medium heat until it is cooked on both sides.
  5. Once the fish is cooked. Fry some crushed ginger, garlic and curry leaves in the oil for a couple of mins for some flavor.
