Tunisian FM, French envoy discuss Libya’s situation

Tunisian Foreign Minister Nabil Ammar called for a peaceful solution to settle the Libyan crisis during a meeting with visiting Special Envoy of the French President to Libya Paul Soler on Friday, according to a statement released by Tunisia’s Foreign Ministry.

During the meeting, Ammar reiterated Tunisia’s firm stance on the settlement of Libya’s crisis, which is based on supporting a peaceful Libyan-led and Libyan-owned solution free of foreign interference, according to the statement.

Ammar said “all regional and international efforts should be directed towards the search for a political settlement that preserves the unity, security and stability of Libya.”

For his part, Soler commended Tunisia for its active role since the beginning of the crisis in Libya.

He expressed his country’s aspiration for greater coordination with Tunisia within the framework of a participatory approach in order to advance the political process in Libya.

The meeting also focused on the situation in the Gaza Strip. Ammar underlined the necessity to put an end to the attacks on Gaza immediately.
