Subsidy on electricity to become optional in Delhi: Kejriwal

The Delhi Cabinet passed an important decision regarding electricity subsidy. According to the decisions it is announced that “Those who want to surrender can pay the full bill from October 1….reports Asian Lite News

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) would provide electricity subsidy to those who would want the same. He said that the Delhi government will give options to people on whether they will need electricity subsidy or not from October 1.

“The people of the national capital would be asked if they would want to continue with the subsidy and the exercise in this regard would begin soon,” he said.

Today, the Delhi Cabinet passed an important decision regarding electricity subsidy. The CM said, “Those who want to surrender can pay the full bill from October 1. Many people in Delhi get free electricity due to the subsidy provided by the Delhi Govt. Many suggested us we are capable of paying, we don’t want free electricity. Please use this (money) for schools and hospitals.”

“Now, we have decided to give an option to consumers. If they opt for subsidy, they will be provided subsidy. Else, subsidy will not be provided to them. We will begin asking the consumers soon. From October 1, electricity subsidy in Delhi will be made optional,” he added.

The announcement was made by the Chief Minister at the launch of Delhi Startup Policy. Today, the Delhi Cabinet passed the Delhi Startup Policy and the AAP supremo said, “We are committed towards making Delhi into a startup capital of India.”

“We will form a panel of CAs, lawyers where entrepreneurs can seek help. Govt will pay the experts,” he was quoted by news agency PTI as saying.

He further added that the Delhi government will provide relief to entrepreneurs and students of state-run institutes can take off for 1-2 yrs to focus on their business.

“Creating entrepreneurs and business leaders out of our youth is a subject very close to my heart. Our youth has tremendous potential. Given right opportunities, they can compete wid anyone in the world. Not just India, we will see Delhi become the startup destination of the world,” the Delhi CM tweeted.
