India hosts key meeting of ASEAN FMs

The Special ASEAN-India Foreign Ministers’ Meeting (SAIFMM) will mark the 30th anniversary of dialogue relations and the 10th anniversary of Strategic Partnership….reports Asian Lite News

Senior functionaries of ASEAN member states have arrived in New Delhi to take part in the Special ASEAN-India Foreign Ministers’ Meeting on Thursday and Friday.

These include the ASEAN Secretary General and Foreign Ministers of member countries including Singapore, Indonesia, and Vietnam.

The Special ASEAN-India Foreign Ministers’ Meeting (SAIFMM) will mark the 30th anniversary of dialogue relations and the 10th anniversary of Strategic Partnership.

Foreign Minister of Singapore & Country Coordinator of ASEAN-India Dialogue Relations Vivian Balakrishnan arrived in Delhi in Wednesday. He will co-chair the Special ASEAN-India Foreign Ministers’ Meeting with EAM S Jaishankar & participate in Delhi Dialogue XII.



Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi and Vietnamese Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son are also in New Delhi for the Special ASEAN-India Foreign Ministers’ Meeting and Delhi Dialogue XII.

MEA Official Spokesperson Arindam Bagchi tweeted about the Indonesian Foreign Minister’s arrival and described it as an “opportunity to strengthen India-Indonesia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership”.

ASEAN Secretary General Dato Kim Jock Hoi is among the other top officials to have reached New Delhi for the meeting.

The year 2022 has been designated as ASEAN-India Friendship Year.

ASEAN-India dialogue relations started with the establishment of sectoral partnership in 1992 which graduated to full dialogue partnership in December 1995, Summit level Partnership in 2002, and Strategic partnership in 2012. (India News Network)
