Annual Dinner & Awards Night of the UK – India Legal Partnership, 2022 under the leadership of London based lawyer Mr Ajit Mishra… writes columnist Riccha Grrover for Asian Lite International.
It was a star-studded evening gathered at the Cholmondeley Room, House of Lords on 21st December 2022. This was a befitting setting for the occassion of accolading the stars of this Global partnership who have nurtured the legal and business relations between the two mighty commonwealth nations over decades of their meticulous work amidst dynamic environments.
Mr Ajit Mishra is a senior corporate lawyer qualified as Advocate under Indian Laws and also a British Solicitor registered with the Law Society of England & Wales. Being dual-qualified lawyer he has extensive experience in the India -UK business corridors. He has many years of experience of leading international M&A transactions and other commercial transactions between India and the Europe. His practice is broad and has extensive experience in assisting his European clients in all aspects their legal requirements. He is well- reputed and respected both within the Indian and European market.
Ajit has represented various German Companies while they are expanding their operations in In- dian and also acted for Indian companies expanding operations in Germany and Europe.
Ajit is Special Economic Advisor to the City of Magdeburg (Germany) and his recent visit to Mag- deburg was to explore mutual opportunities and to strengthen Indo-German relations and facilitate German companies entry into Indian market.

Dining besides the beautiful terrace by the Thames, the event was graced by the presence of legal world bigwigs Lalit Bhasin, Harish Salve KC, Lubna Shuja.
The evening began with a remarkable address by Lubna Shuja, the 178th President of the Law Society of Englad and Wales, followed by Mark Fenhall KC, the Chair of Bar Council of England and Wales, acknowledging the works of the partnership and brilliantly encouraging words for a growing bright future looking forward to further projects and developing bonds.
The evening progressed and UKILP then had the opportunity to accolade award titles to some pivotal gems of the partnership, including the Lifetime Achievement Awards to Lalit Bhasin and Harish Salve KC.
The very first in its line, the Carrie Morrison, Women Lawyer of the Year Award was received by Lubna Shuja, the first Asian, first Muslim and the 7th female president of the Law Society of England and Wales in its history of 200 years. The award is named after marking 100 years of the Solicitor registration of Carrie Morrison, the first female Solicitor of the UK.
Subsequently, Sr. Adv. Vivek Sood was awarded the Emerging Senior Council of the Year for his remarkable work of more than 3 decades of diverse legal practice. Vikram Chaurdhari then accepted the award for Excellence in Criminal Justice for his outstanding contributions to the industry.
Environment Lawyer of the Year was awarded to Adv. Sudhir Mishra, for his brilliantly dynamic works and contributions to the energy sectors, environment protection and development and outreach for justice.
UK – India Legal Partnership acknowledges the consistent and congruent support of Entrepreneurial talents in their development and growth and therefore they were delighted to recognise the 2 growing entrepreneurs to the UK market, Rikant Pitti and Dr. Jasbir Bindra as the Entrepreneurs of the Year for their passionate work and talented spirits.
As was the theme of the dinner, India @75 and Beyond, they also recognised 75 dazzling professionals who have contributed to development of legal proliferation among India and the UK.
