Sheikh Mohammed tours India Pavilion

The Dubai Ruler’s visit to India Pavilion comes after India and the United Arab Emirates signed a historic Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) last week, reports Asian Lite Newsdesk

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, toured the pavilions of India and Pakistan at Expo 2020 Dubai. He was accompanied by Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid said that Expo 2020 Dubai serves as a unique platform to celebrate creativity and innovation as well as discover new partnerships that will drive progress in the region and beyond. He added that the participation of 192 countries at the global event has offered an opportunity for the exchange of knowledge, experiences and innovations from across the world that will help shape a better future for humanity.

During his visit to the India pavilion at the Opportunity District, Mohammed bin Rashid was briefed on the country’s rich ancient civilisation, aspirations for the future and the rapid growth of its economy.

The pavilion showcases India’s art, culture, literature, cinema and cuisine from across 36 states and union territories as well as the country’s array of business and investment opportunities.

The four-story pavilion structure also showcases the latest technologies and creates an ambient, futuristic environment with installations powered by augmented reality and projection mapping.

The India pavilion focuses on presenting the country’s five ‘Ts’ Talent, Trade, Tradition, Tourism and Technology. It allows visitors to discover everything from the country’s natural wonders, health and wellness story to its burgeoning space technology sector.

The Dubai Ruler’s visit comes after India and the United Arab Emirates have entered into a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) last week.

The agreement, which is expected to be implemented within 60 days and entails enhanced market access and reduced tariffs, will lead to an increase in bilateral trade from the current $60 billion to $100 billion in the next 5 years.

The India Pavilion also celebrated the signing of the historic trade deal by displaying Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s message on this landmark strengthening of the strategic relationship between the two countries, on its facade.

Two weeks ago, the India Pavilion has surpassed the one million footfalls landmark. The India Pavilion has made its mark among the 192 participating nations by being recognized as one of the most iconic pavilions at EXPO2020 Dubai by the American Institute of Architects.

Meanwhile, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid also visited the Pakistan pavilion at the Opportunity District, where he was briefed on the pavilion’s exhibits that highlight the country’s diverse environmental beauty. Under the theme, ‘The Hidden Treasure’, the pavilion offers an immersive walkthrough experience and showcases the country’s opportunities in tourism, commerce and investment.

As part of the tour, he was also briefed on Pakistan’s various achievements in the fields of sustainability, sports, technology and arts. With a history spanning 7,000 years, ever-evolving with art, culture and diversity, Pakistan is one of the world’s best-kept secrets.
