Rajnath discusses defence ties with Shoigu

The two defence ministers also co-chaired India-Russia Inter-Governmental Commission on Military Technical Cooperation (IRIGC-MTC)…reports Asian Lite News.

Ahead of the inaugural India-Russia 2+2 ministerial dialogue, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Monday met his Russian counterpart Sergey Shoigu in New Delhi and held comprehensive discussions on bilateral defence cooperation between the two countries.

Tweeting about it, Rajnath Singh wrote: “Had productive, fruitful and substantial bilateral discussions on defence cooperation with the Russian Defence Minister, General Sergey Shoigu in New Delhi today. India values its special and privileged partnership with Russia,” said Singh through a tweet after the meeting.”

The two defence ministers also co-chaired India-Russia Inter-Governmental Commission on Military Technical Cooperation (IRIGC-MTC).

In his tweet, Rajnath Singh said: “India deeply appreciates Russia’s strong support for India. We hope that our cooperation will bring peace, prosperity and stability to the entire region. Glad that a number of Agreements/Contracts/Protocols were signed pertaining to small arms and military cooperation.”

On Monday, Russian President Vladamir Putin and Prime Minister Narendra Modi will meet in New Delhi for the 21st India-Russia Annual Summit.

Besides the India-Russia Annual Summit, there will be a series of India-Russia bilateral meetings on December 6 and foreseeably a very intensive engagement during the day and culminating with the summit.
