Kerala’s active cases at 1,351

With keralites from other states and abroad incessantly coming in, the state’s covid tally has been on a steady rise for past few days. Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Wednesday said there were 75 new Covid-19 cases with the total number under treatment at 1,351, while 1,324 so far have been cured.

“Of the 75 new cases , 53 came from abroad while 19 came from within the country and there were three who were local infectees,” said Vijayan.

He said there are 1,25,307 people under observation in homes, corona care centres and includes 1,989 who are in hospitals.

“Today 5,876 samples was send for testing, taking the total number of tests done to 1,22,466,” said Vijayan.

The total number of hot spots remained at 110 after three new ones were added, and an equal number was deleted.

Vijayan said that things are under control and it’s because of social distancing norms and use of masks is being strictly observed.

“We have also been very successful to see elaborate steps are being taken to see that there is no contact spreading and also the way how reverse quarantine is being practised. All have to be extremely cautious as there are good number of people are arriving from abroad and within the country,” added Vijayan.
