Man U fans worst troublemakers

rooney manchester united Manchester United fans were the worst troublemakers in the English Premier League (EPL), says a report from the British Transport Police (BTP).

The report said Manchester fans sparked more trouble on trains than any other top-flight club. Over the past two seasons, they were involved in 37 of the total incidents, reports Xinhua.

Their close neighbours, Manchester City, came second with its fans causing trouble on 30 occasions.

Sunderland (28 incidents) took the third spot.

But the worst troublemakers were in the second-flight Championship League.

Here, Leeds fans were the most violent, getting involved in 77 incidents over the two seasons.

The most serious cases led to injuries to four people and bodily harm to victims as fans made their way by train to and from matches.

But BTP said that only “a small minority (of fans) engage in violence”.

The rest of the clubs in EPL who caused trouble were: Newcastle United (27), Aston Villa and Chelsea (24 each), Stoke (21), Everton (19) and London clubs Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur (18 each).

During the two seasons, police attended to 1,027 incidents involving football fans on trains and at railway stations.

The figures were released by BTP to a English national tabloid newspaper in response to a “Freedom of Information” request.
